Dear Bolu,
There have been many letters since the first—each kind, sad, funny, wise, confused, and desperate in some way. I have written with groggy eyes and tired hands; in blood-red ink and blue-black colours; on paper-thin pages and white blank screens; for hours on end and minutes at a time. I’ve stumbled on ideas in-between dreams and during slow walks to the store. I’ve imagined characters from myself and the ether. I’ve cried at the scribble of a thought, laughed at the dryness of my jokes and laughed harder at my marvellous folly. I’ve finished with beautiful flourishes and opened with underwhelming narratives. I’ve left questions unanswered and doubts uncleared. I’ve solved personal mysteries and discovered new ones. I’ve written for myself and for all. I’ve written to one and to many. And I will continue to do so.
There are, however, going to be some changes to these letters, the most notable of which is a reduction in writing frequency from a letter every week to a letter every other week. In other words, you should expect to receive new letters in your inbox every two weeks as opposed to every week which has been the practice so far. I also intend to be a bit more experimental with the content of the letters. I’d be playing around with other writing styles and forms, so should you see anything unfamiliar in the coming weeks, please don’t fear for me. I haven’t been hacked or rid of my senses. I’m the same old man dancing with the pen, only that the tune is somewhat different.
Lastly, I’m on the lookout for any artist or photographer that’d like to put up their work(s) as art for these letters. I’m welcoming of any art type or form. I source most of the images I use from Unsplash, but now I’d like something different. Unfortunately, I can’t offer any compensation because these letters are free. I only have the reach of these letters to give, and I’ve always wanted to give it out. So if you’re interested or you know anyone who might be, kindly leave a comment on this post stating how to contact you (or them) and I’ll get in touch. Thank you.
The letters won’t stop, dear friend.
